That’s right, Hino will be the first vehicle manufacturer in OZ to bring digital radio into vehicles and it’ll do so via a large HD touch screen multimedia unit. It’ll still sport the traditional AM/FM receivers, while overloading on new features, including a DVD and CD player, USB input, SD card slot and is Bluetooth enabled for hands-free call handling.
The vehicles equipped with this state-of-the-art multimedia centre commenced manufacturing this September and include Hino’s 300, 500 and 700 series.
Although luxury sedans are expected to incorporate the new tech, Hino’s product planning manager, Daniel Petrovski, said the company wanted to help make their customer’s operations more efficient:
“A truck’s cabin is the primary office for many of our customers, so we began looking for ways to improve the efficiency and safety of their working day,” he said.
“Our all-new in-dash double-din multimedia unit is designed to be user-friendly, feature the latest technology and contribute to vehicle safety with the adoption of rear-view sound-enabled infrared cameras and Bluetooth technology.”
“Not only is this the most advanced multimedia unit ever fitted to a truck, the new Hino unit shames those fitted to the majority of luxury cars,” he said.
