Black Friday Battle Begins As Retailers Launch Sales Weeks Early
In what’s shaping up as a brutal Black Friday battle, major Australian retailers, including Bunnings, The Good Guys and Myer, have already kicked off their sales weeks before the November 29 event.
Bunnings has jumped in early this year, offering aggressive discounts across tech and home categories, including smart lighting, power tools and connected home gadgets.
The early start signals how fiercely competitive this year’s Black Friday is becoming, with retailers scrambling to lock in consumer spending amid continued cost-of-living pressures.
Some retailers have told Channel News that they are concerned that this year’s Black Friday will not achieve the same level of sales as 2024.

This follows concerns over the lack of an RBA rate cut that some retailers claimed would have accelerated sales.
Other retailers are claiming that they believe that consumers have actually been saving up in anticipation of extensive bargains during the Black Friday period.
Tech deals are flooding in already.
Samsung has slashed $650 off its massive 57-inch Odyssey Neo G95NC Curved QLED Gaming Monitor and up to $400 off flagship Galaxy S25 smartphones.

LG’s 75-inch QNED81A 4K Smart TV is going for $1795 at The Good Guys – a sharp early-season discount. TCL’s new 65-inch Mini LED Google TV is also down to $1395.
Dyson, a perennial Black Friday heavyweight, has rolled out sweeping price cuts. The V15 Detect Absolute vacuum is down $450 to $999, while the Dyson Airwrap Origin Multi-Styler has dropped to $499.
Amazon Australia is matching the pace, with 55% off the ECOVACS DEEBOT T30S Pro Robot Vacuum ($899, down from $1999) and 22% off Apple AirPods Pro 2 ($310, down from $399). HP has also joined in, cutting up to $1000 off premium laptops like the Envy x360 2-in-1.

Even security and smart-home tech brands are getting in early.
Reolink is offering $330 off its RLK16 12MP PoE Security System, while Eufy has taken $520 off its four-camera EufyCam 3 kit.
It looks increasingly like Black Friday is no longer a one-day event but a month-long sales marathon. While spending may not hit 2024 levels, the discount war is already in full swing.
