BOQ Partnering With Square Helping Small Businesses

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey’s payment start up Square is working with the Bank of Queensland (BOQ) providing its new small business customers with a free Square reader, which includes $1000 in fee-free processing.”

This is a first of its kind partnership between Square and BOQ, the bank will also be waiving processing fees for its SME customer’s first $1000.

Square says this partnership is designed as a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution enabling time-poor business owners to walk into any of BOQ’s 180 national branches, and walk out ready to start working instantly.

Ben Pfisterer, country manager at Square Australia says, “It is great to see the bank embracing Square’s technology to add more value to its small business offering. Square’s mobile point-of-sale technology provides small business owners with unparalleled flexibility and simplicity, while significantly reducing the cost and time it takes them to set up.

Greg Pink, general mananger SME banking at BOQ  welcomes the partnership as an opportunity to offer its small business customers greater access to payment options when it comes to running their business.

“Partnering with Square means we can offer a simple and more affordable card payment option to our small business customers, helping them to get up and running faster.”

Square has been in Australia two years ago with more than 60,000 businesses using its products.
