Beko Puts European Design And Long-Term Reliability At The Centre Of Its Australian Strategy
As competition in Australia’s appliance market increasingly centres on price and product features, Beko is seeking to differentiate itself by focusing on how its products are designed and built, arguing that long-term reliability and user experience have become just as important as technology.
The company is placing renewed emphasis on its European manufacturing heritage, positioning its “Made in Europe” credentials as more than simply a country-of-origin label. Instead, Beko says the designation reflects a design philosophy built around durability, sustainability and products that remain relevant throughout their lifespan.
Görkem Gör, Beko’s Design & Content Executive Director, said the company’s approach reflects a mature design culture focused on long-term performance rather than short-term trends.
“It represents a mature design culture shaped by standards, durability and sustainability; products that don’t shout for attention but remain relevant over time,” Gör said.
The strategy comes as Australian consumers become increasingly selective with discretionary spending, placing greater importance on appliances that offer dependable performance over many years.
Rather than promoting individual technologies as headline features, Beko is also shifting towards what it describes as an experience-led approach to product development. Technologies such as AeroPerfect airflow, connected ecosystems and energy management systems are designed to work together to improve everyday use, with the emphasis placed on consistent cooking performance, efficient energy use and intuitive operation instead of technical specifications alone.
The approach reflects broader changes in consumer behaviour, where purchasing decisions are increasingly driven by the overall ownership experience rather than feature lists.
Beko is also attempting to redefine what constitutes a premium appliance. Instead of relying solely on premium finishes or extensive feature sets, the company argues that consistent long-term performance has become a premium characteristic in its own right.
That philosophy extends into product testing.

According to the company, its built-in ovens undergo 1,375 hours of operation under TÜV testing conducted to EN 60350 standards, simulating approximately ten years of use. The testing includes roasting chicken, baking cakes and baking bread while measuring heat distribution across the oven cavity to ensure cooking performance remains consistent throughout the appliance’s lifespan.
Oven glass is also subjected to impact and scratch resistance testing under EN 60335 conditions. Beko says the glass is evaluated before and after accelerated ageing simulations, with testing showing comparable impact resistance after the equivalent of ten years of everyday use.
The company says lifecycle testing is intended to ensure appliances continue delivering reliable performance well beyond their initial purchase rather than simply performing well when new.
For Australian retailers, the positioning reflects changing market conditions as consumers seek products that balance quality and affordability.
Demand continues to grow for appliances that deliver premium-like performance, are built to last, offer intuitive operation and remain accessible within mid-market price points.
By combining European manufacturing standards with globally informed product development, Beko is aiming to appeal to consumers looking for long-term value rather than simply the lowest purchase price.
The company’s strategy also reflects a wider shift across the appliance sector, where premium products are increasingly being judged by durability, ease of use and everyday performance rather than price alone. As households make fewer but more carefully considered purchases, those qualities are becoming increasingly important in purchasing decisions.
