Home appliance company Beko has been named one of TIME Magazine’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies for 2025, climbing to #17 globally and securing the #1 spot in its industry.

It marks the second consecutive year the Turkish company has featured on the list, which is compiled in collaboration with data analytics firm Statista.

The recognition comes as TIME tightened its sustainability criteria, making Beko’s rise from 44th in 2024 even more notable.

The ranking evaluates over 5,000 companies worldwide on key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics including emissions reduction, circular economy efforts, and transparency in reporting.

Beko CEO Hakan Bulgurlu said the company’s progress proves that sustainability and scale can go hand in hand: “We call this ‘Sustainability That Scales’. What matters is building systems that allow people and the planet to thrive in every market.”

Beko’s green credentials include 90.2MWp of renewable energy installed in its factories, over 27,000 tonnes of recycled plastics used in products, and the recycling of 1.86 million electrical appliances since 2014.

Energy-efficient and low-carbon products now make up more than 70% of Beko’s turnover.

The company’s Ulmi plant in Romania, powered entirely by green electricity, is recognised by the World Economic Forum as a Sustainability Lighthouse, which sets a global benchmark for low-impact manufacturing.

Bulgurlu added: “This milestone affirms the impact of credible data, long-term thinking, and putting sustainability at the centre of how we grow.”
