ASUS Unveils “Zenfone 6” With Pop-Up Camera

ASUS who has long struggled to make its name in the smartphone space and has officially launched its new budget-friendly notchless Zenfone 6 with a pop-up rotating camera and beefy 5,000 mAh battery for US$499. Local pricing and availability to be confirmed.

Budget phones with impressive specs are all the rage in 2019, with Apple, Google, and Samsung whittling down their flagships to offer affordable premium models to the market.

Asus has never been a big name in the smartphone business and this latest handset is positioning itself as a product which can “defy ordinary”.

Its dual pop-up camera is similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and features the same built-in fall detection that automatically retracts the camera if the phone is dropped or falls.

The Zenfone 6 features a dual camera system with a 48MP main and 13MP ultrawide lens.

The camera can pop up and flip around for selfies, meaning one camera system does double duty.

This means that ASUS can forgo a notch and a hole punch — features that have proven to greatly divide smartphone users.

Inside it is powered by Snapdragon 855 processor and a quick charging 5,000 mAh battery.

Although it is offering interesting specifications at a nice price point, it’s not likely that it will stack up against Google Pixel 3a or Samsung’s budget offerings.

Local pricing and availability of the ASUS Zenfone 6 have yet to be confirmed.
