Apple’s OLED Supplier Increases Panel Production
China’s leading display maker, BOE Technology Group, will ramp up production of its OLED panels by nearly 70 per cent this year, as it works to meet the increased demand of Apple and other global clients.
BOE told investors that two production lines in Chengdu and Mianyang, in Sichuan Province, will be working at capacity by the end of June, with a third line in Chongqing launching mass production.
The company will increase OLED panel output from 60 million units in 2021, to over 100 million.
BOE’s revenue jumped 62 per cent to A$46.2 billion last year, with net profits rising more than five times, to A$5.4 billion, driven by pandemic demand.
Sales of OLED panels jumped 67 per cent, due to Chinese smartphone makers using BOE panels for its mid-tier and high-end devices.
