Apple Compatible Magnet Phone Case Hits $100k Crowdfunding Goal In 48 Minutes

A phone case company which creates products compatible with Apple’s MagSafe system reached its Kickstarter crowdfunding goal of $100,000 in only 48 minutes and reached a whopping $200,000 only 30 minutes later.

San Francisco-based Peak Design makes mountable magnetic phone cases which fit Apple and Samsung models, aimed at cyclists, drivers, and photographers.

The magnets on the back of the case can lock it onto accessories such as a bike or car mount, mini tripod or a wallet on the back of your phone. The company will also offer an adhesive universal adapter which will enable the mounting system to work on other phone cases too.

Peak Design also says all its cases, mounts and accessories are compatible with Apple’s new MagSafe system for the iPhone 12.

“They’re made for any phone, and also compatible with Apple’s new MagSafe® system,” Peak Design states on its Kickstarter campaign.

The range, named Mobile by Peak Design, went on pre-sale on Monday morning and has already raised AU$774,160 at the time of writing.

The products include a mobile tripod, a bike mount, car mount, charging desk stand, wall mount and motorcycle mount.

Product availability is expected in March-June 2021
