Apple Already Testing M3 Chip
While rumours fly about the appearance of Apple’s upcoming M2 chip, it seems that the company might skip a generation, with a prominent Apple insider revealing the M3 will be here before too long.
According to the ever-reliable Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is testing the M3 chip in ten Macs currently being tested with the M2, as well as the upcoming iMac.
Interestingly, Apple is not testing the M2 in its iMac, suggesting the product will skip a generation and debut with the M3. While this sounds good for users, it will mean a gap of almost three years between iMac upgrades.
“I imagine [the M3 iMac] won’t launch until the end of next year at the earliest,” Gurman writes.
“I still think an iMac Pro is coming. It just won’t be anytime soon.”
Apple will be making its next round of official announcements at its WWDC show in June.
