Android commanded a 55.1 percent share of the Australian mobile phone market for the three months ending February 2016, up from 50.6 percent year-on-year, with iOS at 38.2 percent, down from 38.5 percent, according to the latest Kantar Worldpanel ComTech report.
The Kantar figures also show a declining market share for Windows Phone in Australia, falling from 9.3 per cent in February last year to 5.8 per cent this year.
Looking further abroad, Kantar noted Android increased its sales share in urban China to 76.4 percent from 73 percent year-on-year, while for the first time since August 2014, Apple’s iOS share did not grow in urban China
Huawei was able to recapture top spot, capturing 24.4 percent of smartphones sold in urban China, Kantar said, just ahead of Apple’s 22.2 percent. – Channel News
