Amazon Pulls Charlie Kirk Shooting Book After Erroneous Date Fuels Outrage
An Amazon listing for an 81-page paperback titled ‘The Shooting of Charlie Kirk’ sparked anger and online conspiracy theories after users noticed the product page showed a publication date of September 9, 2025, one day before Kirk was fatally shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10.
The listing quickly circulated on social media, with some users alleging foreknowledge of the attack.
Amazon told the Daily Mail the title was briefly listed on September 10 and that the displayed publication date was incorrect due to a system error.
The company said the book has been removed, “Due to a technical issue, the date of publication that had been displayed for this title, while it was briefly listed, was incorrect, and we apologise for any confusion.”
The book credited “Anastasia J Casey” as author, but no other published works under that name could be found on book-resale databases, fuelling claims the title was quickly produced, possibly with AI, to capitalise on the news.

Additional similarly themed books appeared after the shooting but were also taken down, according to screenshots shared online.
Amazon said it removes books that violate its content guidelines, which prohibit material deemed hate speech, the advocacy of terrorism, or other inappropriate content.
The company currently allows AI-generated books on its platform but requires disclosure and reserves the right to remove titles that breach its rules.
Kirk was shot once while speaking to a crowd in Orem, Utah, and died shortly after.
Authorities say 22-year-old Tyler Robinson is in custody in connection with the killing. Robinson faces charges including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice, and could face the death penalty if convicted, according to a probable cause affidavit and subsequent briefings.
