Amazon Controller No Longer Works With Fire TVs

Amazon has removed support for its gaming controller for Fire TV devices, according to an article on AFTVnews

A recent software upgrade to Fire TV means that it cannot find the controller, a fact confirmed by Amazon’s product page, which points out that the controller still works with the Fire TV stick but is not compatible with 4K Ultra HD which includes Amazon’s Fire TV Edition smart TVs or the Fire TV cube.

Amazon has not commented on the discontinuation of the controller, which it introduced in 2014 and accompanied the Fire TV set top box which allowed customers to stream services such as Hulu and Netflix.

It also supported games which users could play with the gaming controller, and the latest move seems to support speculation that Amazon is continuing to move its focus away from gaming to smart TVs.
