AirPods Studio Design Leaked In Apple iOS 14.3 Beta
There has been a lot of speculation over the design of Apple’s yet-to-be released over-ear headphones, the AirPods Studio, but it seems we finally have a legitimate first look image.
Embedded within the iOS 14.3 beta which was released to developers today is a pair of what is unmistakeably a pair of over-hear headphones – a product never seen before on the Apple ecosystem.
The icon, discovered first by 9to5Mac, shows a potential illustration of the upcoming AirPods Studio.
It has oval-shaped, cushiony earpads which appear to swivel and a thick headband which wraps around the user’s skull.
The design is simple but reflects many of the prototype illustrations leaked over the last few months.
Sources report the AirPods Studio will have a number of features such as ear detection which pauses the music when the headphones are removed, magnetic ear cups which are reversible, a USBC port and a headphone jack.
Initial reports suggested the headphones would be released by the end of 2020, however production delays may mean we won’t see the AirPods Studio until 2021 at the earliest.
The release of the prototype icons in the iOS files may also mean the headphones are still in design production.
Noted Apple leaker Jon Prosser believes the over-ear headphones will cost US$599 (AUD$834) and reports Apple may launch a cheaper, “sport-like” alternative for $350 ($AUD487).
In other Apple news, Apple TV will now be available on Sony PS4 and the newly launched PS5, giving PlayStation users the ability to watch Apple TV+, and rent or buy movies in 4K HDR.
