Samsung + Harman Linked Company, Under Armour , Hacked, 150M Records Accessed

Under Armour the clothing Company who work closely with Samsung and Harman have admitted that the confidential records of 150 million of their customers have been stolen.

Under Armour who are in the throws of setting up a retail network in Australia have not said how many Australians are affected.

What we do know is that they have called in a Washington based crisis management Company to help them mitigate the impact of the problem.

the data breach has affected approximately 150 million MyFitnessPal users.

Harman is currently marketing an Under Armour range of headphones in Australia.

Hackers have got access to usernames, email addresses and hashed (not plain-text) passwords. Analysts said that Under Armour stored user passwords as hashed symbols, rather than plain text.

“This will make it more difficult for attackers to find the plain-text passwords, although it’s still far from impossible” said one security expert,

I for one have an Under Armour account.

According to CNBC, the data stolen doesn’t include payment data such as credit cards, which is stored separately.

The biggest risk with a data breach such as this isn’t necessarily the immediate information that’s divulged, but rather what the username/password combos could give access to. Users have a well-documented habit of reusing usernames and passwords across websites, so a breach of MyFitnessPal could easily lead to bank accounts or any amount of sensitive information.

If you’re a MyFitnessPal user, you’ll likely want to change your password for MyFitnessPal as well as any other accounts that share the same password. Enabling two-factor authentication for any sensitive accounts will also make it harder for attackers to reuse your credentials.
