Sony Brings New Features To PS4 With 3.0 Update
Code-named Kelshin, among the changes introduced by the update is the addition of a new Events app, accessible from the home screen, providing users an overview of activities taking place in the games they play most, as well as official broadcasts.
PS4 users will now also have the ability to create and join communities based around shared interests, such as games and genres, with communities to include a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players and the ability to join parties/games.
A dedicated section has been created for PlayStation Plus, accessible from the PS4 home screen, and among the other changes introduced, Sony states it is now easy to share video clips to Twitter, with a maximum video length of 10 seconds, while users can now stream directly from their PS4 to YouTube.
Users can now also request to start a Share Play session or watch their friend play via a Broadcast, keep up with gaming trends via Live from PlayStation, featuring the most popular broadcasts, video clips and screenshots uploaded from around the world, while higher quality screenshots are also available via PNG Screenshots.
Favourite Groups has been added to the Friends app, making it easier for users to access groups of people they play games with frequently, while new stickers have been added to the PS4 system’s Messages app.
