Apple’s OS X El Capitan For Desktop Set For Release

AppleApple has issued a media release ahead of the arrival El Capitan, which
indicates that it is on schedule for release. A few weeks back, Apple delayed the release of its watchOS 2 Apple Watch software update after a bug was found during testing.

Becoming available from September 30, going by the US
clock, Apple states El Capitan builds on the features of OS X Yosemite,
“refining the Mac experience with updates to window management, built-in
apps and Spotlight search”.

Among the updates to Spotlight,
users can now use Spotlight to check stock prices, weather conditions
and forecasts, and can also search to find a file using natural
language, with Apple providing the examples of  “email from Harrison in
April” or “presentation I worked on yesterday”, stating Spotlight will
help users find exactly what they are looking for.

Control has been streamlined to make it easier for users to see and
organise everything they have open on their Mac, with a single swipe
arranging all windows in a single layer. Users can also drag a window to
the top of the screen to create a new Space, while Split View
automatically positions two app windows side-by-side in full screen,
allowing users to work with both apps.

Apple has also introduced
updates to its Safari, Mail and Photo apps, while a new Notes app allows
users to drag and drop photos, PDFs, videos and other files into a
note, and to add content directly from other apps, such as Safari web
links or Maps locations, using the Share menu.

“El Capitan
refines the Mac experience and improves performance in a lot of little
ways that make a very big difference,” Craig Federighi, Apple senior
vice president of software engineering, commented of the new OS.

from our OS X beta program has been incredibly positive and we think
customers are going to love their Macs even more with El Capitan.”

El Capitan supports all Macs introduced in 2009 and later, along with some models introduced in 2007 and 2008.
