MCG To Be Decked Out With High-Density Wi-Fi As Part Of Tech Upgrade
Among the technology to be introduced will be a “cutting-edge, high-density Wi-Fi network”, which the MCC states will provide patrons “fast access to the internet on any device at the stadium”.
Also set to be rolled out is an internet protocol television system, encompassing the installation of 800 high-definition screens.
The MCC states fans will “be able to watch high-definition replays and keep track of the action as it unfolds”, with the new system, coupled with existing screens, to see a total of 2,800 televisions installed around the stadium.
An LED lighting system will consist of approximately 240 LED lamps lighting the entire underside of the upper area of level 4 seating, while LED strip lighting will also be installed on the exterior facade to highlight the stadium, including gate entrances.
The lighting will provide the ability to theme the stadium in the colours of the home team.
“This work will enable MCC to take advantage of the latest mobile, social and analytics technologies,” commented Catherine Caruana-McManus, IBM Smarter Cities Australia director.
“It will create unrivalled and personalised in-stadium fan engagement and ensure premier game day experiences, giving fans more reasons to visit more often.”
