Tim Cook is expected to launch the event on Thursday morning, Australian time, unveiling an update to Apple TV that gives the set-top box a new remote and the ability to play applications such as games from outside developers.
A new, bigger-screen iPad is also being tipped by a number of observers.
The iPhone is Apple’s most lucrative product, with its importance increasing as iPad sales decline and with the Apple Watch’s market impact still unclear.
Aside from mentioning Siri in its event invite, Apple hasn’t said what products it plans to talk about at the gathering. But pundits note that the company has created a Twitter account devoted to games.
