Spotify Surges To 60M Users, 15M Subscribers

Spotify Surges To 60M Users, 15M SubscribersSpotify announced the figures via a blog post, revealing a significant take-up in users in the two months from November, at which time it had revealed it had more than 50 million active users, of which 12.5 million were subscribers.

The figures show Spotify’s ratio of subscribers to users remained constant at 25 per cent over the final two months of the year.

Spotify enjoyed a steep growth curve throughout 2014, in May revealing it had 10 million subscribers and more than 40 million active users.

While Spotify has grown its listener numbers, the music streaming market remains intensely competitive, with competitors such as Pandora and Deezer, along with Apple’s iTunes Radio and Google Play Music, vying for market share.

Meanwhile, speculation persists that Spotify is set to go public with an IPO in 2015.
