Woolworths And eBay Grow Click-And-Collect Partnership

Woolworths And eBay Grow Click-And-Collect PartnershipCustomers will now be able to use the Simply Collect service to collect purchases made from eBay at 17 Woolworths supermarkets and 25 BIG W stores in Melbourne, Fairfax has reported.

The service, which launched earlier in the year, initially comprised more than 90 Woolworths and BIG W stores across Sydney and Tasmania.

Amid the rapid growth of online shopping,
traditional bricks and mortar retailers are using their established
store networks to provide click-and-collect services, providing an
additional option to home delivery.

Providing greater flexibility for customers in picking up online purchases, click-and-collect also works to drive additional foot traffic through stores, creating the potential for further in-store purchases.

As reported by Fairfax, Woolworths says the cost of Simply Collect is negligible, with eBay sellers bearing the cost of delivery to Woolworths stores at which it has parcel collection desks already set up to cater for its own online customers.

At launch, eBay and Woolworths projected that there would be up to 12,000 eBay sellers involved in the service, expanding to additional Woolworths and BIG W stores, with the service ramping up over the next three years.
