Turnbull Outlines HFC Plan

The move will act as a guide for the rollout of the National Broadband Network using hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) and copper access networks.

Under the agreement, NBN Co will take ownership of Telstra’s HFC network for the NBN, and use parts of the copper network for fibre-to-the-node and fibre-to-the-basement connections.

Turnbull said a new licence condition had been placed on NBN Co to share rollout information with all retailers in a non-discriminatory manner, but he said concerns about Telstra’s role in the construction of the network could not be addressed in the migration plan.
