Telstra Cuts Tassie Jobs

Acting area GM Stuart Mitchell said 31 positions in Hobart and seven in Launceston will be affected as Telstra reduces its back-of-house asset management team, claiming their work duplicates functions now being performed by “overseas partners.”

Mitchell said there will be no jobs lost from field maintenance staff and claimed the changes affect less than four percent of Telstra’s current Tasmanian workforce.
