Woolworths Recruitment Ad Suggests The Company Is Looking To Become Fully-Fledged Telco

iTNews say Woolworths is looking to expand its telecommunication offerings into fixed-line and mobile services.

According to them, “Woolworths is gearing up to become a major telco player, revealing plans to offer fixed-line services and a desire to break into the “content services” space.”

They cite a recent recruitment ad for a Telco Technology Manager position within the company.

The advertisement says the company is “in the process of substantially growing our telecommunications presence in the Australian market.”

A Woolworths spokesperson declined to comment on the development, telling iTNews “We continue to enjoy a strong relationship with our partner Telstra and are constantly looking for further ways to bring great telco products to the market for our customers.”

Some have suggested that NBN Co could offer Woolworths an avenue for entry to the telcomms sector.
