Some Windows 11 users are reporting system crashes, freezes and repeated restarts after installing Microsoft’s latest cumulative update, raising concerns about stability following the company’s March Patch Tuesday rollout.

Microsoft says the update, released last week, primarily focuses on security fixes, alongside smaller improvements to Secure Boot certificate handling, File Explorer search reliability and Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) COM allowlisting.

But shortly after the update began rolling out, users started posting complaints in Microsoft Q&A forums and other community threads, describing unexpected stability issues after installation.

Some users claim their systems began crashing or freezing completely, forcing hard restarts. In one case, a user reported their PC crashed three times after installing the update, resulting in lost unsaved work. Others say their computers experienced frequent restarts every 10 to 20 minutes.

At least one user reported a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

Additional reports suggest certain apps stopped functioning after the update. Users claim Microsoft Office and Outlook failed to launch, while tools such as Command Prompt and the Print Screen shortcut stopped responding.

There are also scattered reports of potential hardware-related compatibility issues. Some users say system drives became inaccessible on Samsung Galaxy Book laptops, while others reported graphical glitches or crashes in GPU-accelerated applications on Dell Precision workstations. These claims remain anecdotal for now.

Despite the growing reports, Microsoft’s official support page currently lists no known issues related to the update.

The disconnect between early user feedback and Microsoft’s official status is not unusual, as update problems often surface in community forums before being formally acknowledged.
