Western Digital has won a temporary court ruling that orders Toshiba to allow WD to access databases and chip samples as part of a joint venture around Tosh’s flash-memory chip plants in Japan.
Toshiba is scrambling to sell its flash-memory business and Western Digital is among the bidders .
The Japanese company had threatened to lock Western Digital out of shared databases and planned to quit sending it chip samples.
In response, Western Digital asked a US court to stop the flash-memory sale and grant a restraining order forcing Toshiba to give WD workers access to shared databases.
