Logitech has just taken web recording to a whole new level with the release of the BRIO 4K Pro Webcam that delivers, Ultra HD resolution as well as HDR, it is the first 4K Webcam to be released in Australia.
The cameras which is set to be popular with the booming porn industry, also has an infrared sensor to support facial recognition and Windows Hello.
It is also capable of delivering extra wide highly detailed images due to its 4K sensor, that supports up to 4096×2160 resolution at 30 fps (or 1920×1080 at 60 fps), as well as RightLight 3 with HDR backlighting technology.
Set to retail for $379, the device also has two omni-directional microphones with additional noise cancellation options.
The downside is that to get the full features of this camera one must own a recent PC with HDMI C capability as the camera needs USB 3.0 interconnection for 4K video recording.
Users will be able to select between 65°, 78°, and 90° field of view (FOV) options which is great if you are using it for a conference call from home and you want to hide a messy room.
Logitech did not reveal which processor or what video codec they are using but in trials seen at Logitech offices we did notice that it delivered excellent image quality and good colour saturation.
A particularly impressive feature was ‘Right Light’ that significantly improved the light around a talking head due the use of customised HDR backlighting technology.
The BRIO 4K Pro works with all modern versions of Windows, Apple’s MacOS 10.10 and higher as well as with Google Chrome OS version 29.0.1547.70.
The device also has an enterprise pedigree making it ideal for use at places like airports or by corporations that are installing facial recognition technology as part of their security operations.
Out of the box the device supports Skype for Business and Cisco programs with compatible certifications.
Designed to be attached to the top of a monitor, it weighs 63 grams, while being 102 mm wide and 27 mm tall and 27 mm deep. The clip weighs 44 grams, making the whole construction around 107 grams’ total.
Logitech lists that the webcam comes with a USB 3.0 Type-A cable, indicating a C-to-A connection rather than a straight C-to-C.
