Home fitness giant Peloton have released the Guide, the closest thing you can get to your very own AI personal trainer. The Guide builds upon Peloton’s current subscription offerings by adding functionality and interactivity to their large database of workouts.
The Guide works by pairing world class classes and instructors with their Movement Tracker, keeping an eye on your form and ensuring you are performing the actions correctly. This in turn allows you to get more out of your workouts, and prevents possible injury.

The focus of the Peloton Guide was to improve strength training, keeping users accountable and preventing them from finishing early or slowing down. In a press release shared by the company, Peloton explain how the Guide works and how it keeps users accountable.
“We all know that when that countdown happens, when the Instructor reaches three, you may slow down or put down those weights. Movement Tracker appears in-class and encourages you to complete the exercises by giving you credit for doing the exercise for the full duration that the Instructor cues. You’ll get credit as long as you are moving while they are moving and are doing the correct exercise — no jumping jacks when you’re supposed to be squatting, for example. And at the end of each class, you’ll be able to see how many of the movements you were able to complete and maybe earn a badge or two!”
Peloton state that they are constantly looking to improve the accuracy and performance of the guide, with their very own machine learning model, which collects data and turns it into patterns and decisions. Peloton plan to continuously run research and update the guide with improvements.
Subscription to the Peloton service is A$19 a month for 24 months (A$445). For more information, head on over to the Peloton website.
