There have been rumours circulating around a new Nintendo console for six years, and a new rumour suggests the company are looking into a 2024 release for the next-gen console.
It’s expected to feature a cheaper LCD screen, and continue the inclusion of a cartridge slot for loading games. Executives are hoping a 2024 release will ensure no inventory issues, such as those that plagued Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
Nintendo Switch sales have been lower lately with the releases of a new powerful Xbox, PlayStation, and Valve Steam Deck. It was announced in 2020, the company were working on a 4K console but these were denied.
The OLED Switch was released in 2021, but the only improvements were to the screen.
It’s been reported development kits for the new console are already with developers, and development is “progressing well,” however there is still no word on whether it will include 4K resolution, or upgrades to storage space and processing power.
