Teen Roblox Developers Rake in Millions as Platform Booms
Teenagers are becoming millionaires on Roblox as a wave of major acquisitions sweep the online game platform and game creation system.
A 19-year-old developer, who remains anonymous, recently sold his hit anime-inspired soccer game Blue Lock: Rivals for more than A$4.5 million, just months after launching it.
The title had attracted over one million concurrent players and was pulling in around A$7.5 million a month in sales before being acquired by Do Big Studios.
The surge in deals follows a policy change by Roblox in December, which allow game ownership transfers – a move that’s ignited a booming secondary market.
Seven of Roblox’s 15 top-earning games in June were purchased from their original creators, many of whom are still teenagers.

Major buyers like Voldex Entertainment and Do Big Studios are leading the charge, snapping up breakout titles like Brookhaven RP and Grow a Garden, the latter peaking at a staggering 21 million simultaneous players – more than Fortnite.
Roblox’s creator economy is on track to pay out over A$1.5 billion to developers this year. Its top 10 creators earned around A$54 million each in the past 12 months.
Game deals are typically brokered on Discord, with valuations ranging from one to 12 months of in-game revenue
Many developers remain anonymous, while venture capital and private equity firms help fuel the trend.
As Roblox closes in on 100 million daily users, what started as a hobbyist platform is now a digital goldmine for young savvy creators.
