Switch Lite Sells 1.95m Units In 11 Days

Nintendo has blown away analyst expectations and doubled its profits from a year ago based on the strong debut of the gaming giant’s Switch Lite console, which sold 1.95 million units for Q3 2019.

The Switch Lite made up about 46% of all third quarter sales, which is a massive achievement, considering the console was released just 11 days before the end of the quarter, according to Nintendo’s September earnings report.

Altogether, Nintendo sold 6.93 million Switch and Switch Lite consoles during the six months ending September 30, with lifestyle sales of both consoles now sitting at 41.7 million units.

This number brings the Switch closer to beating the 49.1 million sales of the company’s classic 16-bit Super Nintendo console, which is considered by many as Nintendo’s most popular console.

In terms of operating profits, Nintendo took in US$615 million during the six-month period, which is up 116% over the previous year, while revenues of US$2.5 billion during Q3 was a 26% rise from last year.
