Sony Takes Sound System To New Heights

Sony has introduced a new 170cm-tall speaker with lighting functionality and sound quality that makes it “truly a party machine” according to the company.

Featuring a tower design, Sony have designed the V90DW to fill large areas with music thanks to a Spread Sound Generator (or open back-type cabinet) along with the speaker’s front-facing mid-range speakers and tweeters that are angled outward at 20 degrees.

“The V90DW is packed with advanced technology and sound pressure to bring high quality sound to cover a wide range and reach a larger area, making it ideal for hosting big parties,” Sony said.

A 96kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converter enables high-res audio playback, and music can be played back wirelessly using the built-in Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The speaker also features HDMI and USB ports, as well as microphone/guitar inputs.

While Sony added backlighting to the touch panel of the V90DW to make it easier to control in the dark, it said “the real stars of the show are the speaker lights and multicolour woofer lights that change according to the beat and in turn lights up the surroundings all night long.”

The Sony Music Centre and Fiestable apps also can also be used to connect up to 10 compatible speakers together, and can be used to control lighting, sampler and DJ effects, and standard speaker functions.

Sony’s MHC-V90DW is available now for a recommended price of $1,199.
