Sonos Has Another Crack At Trying To Fix Problems With Their Sonos Arc Soundbar

Sonos has been forced to release a software update to fix problems with their Sonos Arc and Sub after complaints from customers who claimed that the product was inferior due to poor bass, and frequency response.

The US business whose stock is down over 50% this year has struggled in the soundbar market, with Company admitting that consumers have not taken to their small new Sonos Beam soundbar resulting in poor global sales.

After Sonos initially delivered an update (version 14.12) in an effort to fix dialogue clarity issues, customers complained En mass that their Sonos Arc was not only quieter it also had altered frequency response and appeared to also have a problem with loss of bass.

Now the Company has been forced to deliver update, version 14.18 with executives on Sonos’s forums claiming that owners of the problematic soundbar can expect the original issues to have been addressed.

There was a clear preference within our community for the previous volume settings, and these have been restored. This will be apparent immediately after updating to 14.18.

“The Trueplay issue has been fixed. Customers who experienced a lower Sub level after performing Trueplay after updating to 14.12 will need to update their systems and then perform a new Trueplay tuning to address these improvements in their system. Customers will hear a more powerful low-end response, meaning any Sub level adjustments made after 14.12 should no longer be required.”

Management also claimed that customers who operated the soundbar without a full-size Sub, or those with the Sub Mini, were unaffected by the issue.

Customers looking for an alternative to the Sonos Beam are now turning to Bose products after the US archrival to Sonos announced the new Smart Soundbar 600, a compact TV speaker with wi-fi streaming smarts and Dolby Atmos, designed to deliver immersive home cinema sound in any space.

Measuring just 5.61cm tall, 10.39cm deep, and 69.44 cm long, the Smart Soundbar 600 should fit easily under any TV, with its sleek looks and wraparound metal grille reminiscent of Bose’s more premium soundbars.
