Samsung’s Gear 360 Now Able To Be Accessed By Non-Samsung Devices

Samsung’s Gear 360 Camera has only been in retailers for a couple of weeks, but enterprising coders have already managed to overcome some of the device’s restrictions.

The camera was only compatible with Samsung devices at launch, an XDA developer named Bin4ry has modified the Gear 360 Manager application to allow other Android devices to connect to it.

Bin4ry has also removed the restriction that only allowed the Samsung Galaxy S7 to film in 4K, opening up further options.

There are some reported issues with the modified application such as a longer-stitching time and the occasional crash.

Though it’s a development that Samsung likely aren’t too pleased about, opening up the Gear 360 makes it a more accessible device.
