Samsung Promotes Garry McGregor To VP of IT & Mobile

Samsung Australia has today announced the promotion of Garry McGregor as its new Vice President of IT and Mobile, effective immediately.

Following a four year tenure, Mr McGregor was Samsung Australia’s Sales Director for IT and Mobile.

The news follows several shuffles among Samsung Australia’s VP lineup in recent years. As previously reported, former Samsung Australia VP of IT & Mobile, Richard Fink, resigned after 11 months. His predecessor, VP of Mobile, Prasad Gokhale, reportedly left after two years.

The news also follows the departure of Samsung Australia VP Consumer Electronics, Carl Rose, after two years – his last day is April 30th.

McGregor’s new role tasks him with leading Samsung’s local IT and Mobile division including; smartphones, wearables and services such as ‘Samsung Pay’.

Samsung Electronics Australia President, Harry Lee, affirms McGregor’s promotion follows notable year-on-year growth for the company’s smartphone business:

“We welcome Garry to his new role and are excited to have him to lead Samsung’s IT and Mobile division in Australia. Garry has proven himself beyond measure during his four years with our company”

“He has been an integral part of the management team that has achieved year-on-year growth for our smartphone business and has led exceptional work with our operator partners”.

McGregor claims his promotion comes at a “dynamic time” in the industry, with a focus on ensuring Samsung remains at the “forefront”:

“It’s an honour to take on this position at such an incredibly exciting time for our brand as our mobile hardware and services continue to open new opportunities for our customers and partners alike.”

“It’s also a dynamic time for our industry as we move into a more connected world that is supported by our Australian networks and other partners”

“I will be working with our team at Samsung and our partners to ensure that we continue to remain at forefront of delivering the best possible mobile experience in this country.”

Lee asserts an internal promotion further reflects the capabilities of Samsung’s Australian team:

“I’m also pleased that the Vice President IT and Mobile role has been filled through an internal promotion, which is testament to the talented team we have here at Samsung Electronics Australia.”
