RoBoHoN Is Coming: Sharp To Launch Robot-Shaped Phone
In the ever-growing smartphone market, Sharp’s upcoming RoBoHoN portable robot-shaped phone is bound to stand out from the crowd.
RoBoHoN can walk on two legs, with Sharp stating that at approximately 19.5 cm tall it is compact enough to be carried almost anywhere, and, supporting LTE and 3G networks, provides a range of basic mobile phone functions.
RoBoHoN runs Android 5.0, and sports an approximately 2-inch QVGA display, with Sharp stating that a range of services can be accessed through dedicated apps, while a built-in compact laser projector with focus-free operation allows users to project photos, videos and maps onto a screen or wall.
Users can also download dedicated apps to give RoBoHoN new functions and services, and Sharp states that “RoBoHoN can grow to accommodate more natural communication with the user by learning the user’s profile and usage situation”.
Powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, RoBoHoN is also decked out with an 8 MP camera.
With pre-order sales having commenced, RoBoHoN, which carries a price tag of 198,000 yen (around $2,363), will be introduced in Japan on May 26.
