Acer unleash a host of new ‘Switch hybrids’, Android and Windows 8.1 tablets, overnight at IFA Berlin.
Acer Aspire Switch 10.1″ and 11.6″ hybrids have flexible hinges that transform from Windows 8.1 notebook to a tablet. The new 2-in-1’s have been likened to Lenovo Yoga series.
Aspire Switch 11 Series 2-in-1 has a 360 degree dual-torque detachable hinge and Chiclet keyboard. It comes in two options – Full HD 1080p display, Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB memory and up to 128 GB of storage (SW5-171) or Intel Atom processor, 2 GB memory, up to 64 GB of storage, and 2 USB ports (SW5-111).
Other new hybrids include: Aspire R 13 which is less than an inch thin and has six modes – Notebook, Ezel, Stand, Pad, Tent and Display thanks to the Ezel Aero hinge. It is available with a 13.3-inch WQHD or Full HD touchscreen and optional Acer Active Pen.
R 14 Series features a 360 degree dual-torque hinge that enables four modes of use-notebook, display, tent and pad. It has a 14-inch display with Zero Air Gap technology whic eliminate reflections in sunlight. All the new hybrids runs Windows 8.1.
Acer also unveiled an Windows 8.1 tablet – with an 8-inch display (1280 x 800s and IPS screen technology. It ascribes to the thin formula (0.38 inches) and Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor.
There’s also two Androids tablets – Acer Iconia Tab 10, which has a full HD IPS display made of Corning Gorilla Glass, quad core processor, and 10-inch display. It has Dolby Digital Plus and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
The smaller Android 8″ Iconia Tab runs an Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor. It comes in 10 shocking colours: Green, Sunshine Yellow, Vivid Orange, Sky Blue, Essential White, Midnight Black, Fragrant Pink, Violet Purple, Mia Blue and Garnet Red.
Acer also announced a new desktop, called Revo One. The Taiwanese company also spoke of upcoming smartphones which it hopes to unleash next year.
No word on local pricing or availability from Acer yet.
