Ring Debut First Indoor Camera, New Alarm Kit
Amazon-owned home security vendor, Ring, has launched its first indoor camera – its most affordable model to date – plus a new add-on alarm kit to enhance existing systems.
The new Ring Indoor Cam will retail for US$60, with Australian pricing and availability to be confirmed.
The camera is more compact than other models, and seeks to be a discrete out-of-the way security solution.
Ring has also unveiled a revamped version of its Stick Up Cam, which is powered by a battery, wall outlet or solar-power attachment, and boasts 1080p resolution.
The product will launch around US$100, which is said to be at a 30% discount versus the previous model.
The new Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit will retail for US$200 (or US$376 when bundled with an Alarm Hub), and ship to the US later this year. Local pricing and availability is to be confirmed.
The alarm kit allows a user to harness an already installed security system wiring and sensors.
Amazon has also furthered its privacy push, with its ‘Alexa Home Mode’ preventing Ring items from recording when people are in the home.
