Record Number of ‘X’ Users As Threads Stumbles
Elon Musk has revealed that ‘X’ has reached the highest user totals, as Threads races to add new features attempting to stop the huge loss of interest currently suffered.
Musk annouced ‘X’ reached 541,562,214 monthly users this month.
“Also, this is after removal of a vast number of bots.”
The bot issue was huge prior to Musk’s acquisition of the platform, utilising a different method of gauging user numbers.
In the last public filing, the platform reported 237.8 million MDA users, with Musk claiming up to 20% were bots.
This record high follows a report showcasing the traffic had dropped 11% since the launch of Threads.
Over 100 million users downloaded Threads in the week following the launch, however has seen numbers plummet by over half due to the lack of features.
Mark Zuckerberg said, “Obviously, if you have more than 100 million people sign up, ideally it would be awesome if all of them or even half of them stuck around. We’re not there yet.”
In an effort to keep users, Meta are planning on adding more “retention-driving hooks” such as “making sure people who are on the Instagram app can see important Threads.”
Zuckerberg views the drop off as “normal” and expects retention to grow as they add more features including a desktop version, and search functionality.
