QuantumScape Embroiled In Battery Controversy

The hottest name in batteries at present is not Tesla or LG Chem – but QuantumScape.

The company chalked up a recent valuation of between US$13 billion and $20 billion after the start-up said its next-generation battery will increase the range of an electric car by as much as 50 percent and reduce the charging time to less than 15 minutes.

Investors though want QuantumScape to produce proof of the claims – but the company is remaining secretive about the process.

It’s led to a report from activist outfit Scorpion Capital calling the company a scam.
