Qualcomm Set To Push Smartphone VR With Snapdragon 821
Qualcomm has announced a new high-end processor for smartphones.
The Snapdragon 821 is expected to bring improved power savings and better performance, particularly for processing-heavy VR applications.
Qualcomm have themselves invested in VR company 360fly earlier in the year.
Featuring Kryo CPU cores and a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz, it’s a 10% improvement on the Snapdragon 820.
Qualcomm have also announced it will include a new power management feature and support for faster upload and download speeds.
The 821’s predecessor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, is responsible for powering many current flagship devices including the Samsung Galaxy S7, HTC 10 and LG G5.
The Qualcomm Snadragon 821 is expected to be available to consumers by the second half of 2016 through various handsets, including the 2016 Nexus range and the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe.
