C.R. Kennedy Nabs BlackFire, Hoya From Rival

C.R. Kennedy adds two major names to its imaging portfolio, nabbing the global accessory brands from their former distributor Adeal.

The imaging distributor will distribute Hoya and Black Rapid from 1 September, it announced today.
But that’s not all C.R. Kennedy has taken from Adeal – it also just hired two former staff from the company, including ex-National Sales Manger, Mark Cummins.
Adeal are currently advertising for a National Marketing Manager, according to an ad posted on its company website.
Hoya, one of the world’s biggest selling camera lens filters, uses Japanese technologies, and accounts for around 50% of the market globally, and locally.
BlackRapid are specialists in camera straps and bags, and the inventors of the Original Camera Sling, used by professional photographers. It has been available in Australia since 2011.
Both brands are popular with professional photographers.
Clem Kennedy, Director, C.R. Kennedy sees strong growth opportunities for both brands, as demands for interchangeable lens system cameras and DSLRs grows.
“In line with increased demand for more technical interchangeable lens system cameras and DSLRs, the number of camera users that identify as enthusiasts is growing.
“While this market trend creates significant growth opportunities for the right accessory brands, retailers also benefit through add-on sales opportunities which deliver good margins.”
The new distribution agreements are good news for retailers, and both brands will be supported by C.R’s relationships with retailers, as well as its extensive logistics infrastructure and sales force.
“Retailers seeking to simplify their supply chain can work with us, confident in the knowledge that they’ll be supported by first-rate service, efficient logistics and pricing models that don’t put them at immediate disadvantage to overseas and grey market competitors.”

The distributor also announced two new appointments – both are former Adeal employees,  to support its growth, including Mark Cummins appointed as National and Key Accounts Manager.

Cummins has more than 25 years’ experience in the photographics industry, will be based at C.R. Kennedy’s head office in Melbourne.
In WA, Perth, Andrew Waddington joins the local sales team as Major Accounts Sales Executive.
Hoya and Black Rapid join C.R. Kennedy’s current brands; Pentax, Ricoh, Sigma, Hasselblad, Vanguard, Eye-Fi, Sandisk, Ilford, Tamrac, LensPen, ION and many more.
