Pro-Ject Launches $22,000 Signature 12.2 Turntable
Austrian hi‑fi specialist Pro‑Ject has officially launched its flagship Signature 12.2, bringing last year’s prototype into full production.
Constructed from more than 100 CNC‑machined components, the deck features hand‑polished metal parts, a high‑mass MDF plinth finished in ten layers of piano‑black lacquer, and spring‑loaded conical feet for perfect levelling.
Weighing over 37kg, it houses a 10.5kg aluminium platter damped with a recycled‑vinyl mat, spinning on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic support for near‑silent operation.
The new 12‑inch aluminium tonearm uses a three‑point pivot for stability and reduced friction, while a DC‑driven AC generator ensures clean, stable motor power.

Joining the Signature 12.2 is Pro‑Ject’s Classic Reference – a high‑end limited edition model combining parts from previous premium decks, offering features such as an EVO 9 AS HG tonearm and a precision aluminium platter.
Both turntables are handmade in Europe and can be upgraded with True Balanced cabling for optimum performance with moving coil cartridges.
Pricing in Australia starts at A$22,000 (without cartridge). For the Classic Classic Reference, it’s A$9,000 for the piano/silver finish and A$11,000 for acacia/brass.
