EXCLUSIVE:CEDIA Offices To Be Closed In OZ
Len Wallis the Chairman of CEDIA has confirmed from New York that CEDIA has started a wind down of its current Botany offices in Australia.
Wallis said “It had become obvious that if CEDIA AP wants to retain its relevance to the industry and to continue to grow it would require resources beyond what the Botany office could deliver. In order to drive CEDIA AP forward the decision has been made to close the Botany office and appoint The Association Specialists, an association management company based in Crows Nest, to take over the role of the day-to-day running of the association”.
During the past 12 months, the organisation has lost several key staff including former General Manager Stephen Miller and Operations Manager Lauren Tuckwell.
Wallis acknowledges that if the organisation is to have a future in Australia a lot has to change.
“What is critical is that we offer training courses to trades operating in both the home installation market and the Pro AV markets. Commercial installation of display and audio systems coupled with networking and wireless technology is set to grow and we need to deliver the right training for these industries”.
Wallis praised the work done by the former staff at CEDIA Australia. Wallis said “During his ten year tenure Steve did a remarkable job of positioning CEDIA AP where it is today. His crowning achievement was bringing together the various parties that resulted in Integrate, the very successful show held at Darling Harbor in August of this year. It is universally held that this show was the kernel for much larger and more successful shows in the future”.
