Philips, ghd and Wahl Big Winners In Canstar Grooming Survey

Philips, ghd and Wahl have taken out the top spots for Canstar Blue’s consumer satisfaction research on personal grooming appliances.

Wahl was the highest rated brand in two categories, winning the award for both hair clippers and beard trimmers, while Philips’ electric shaver range and ghd’s hair straighteners both retained their top spots from last year.

“In the case of ghd and Philips, we have seen consistently high satisfaction scores, and the two brands appear very hard to beat in their respective categories,” said head of Canstar Blue Megan Doyle.

Canstar Blue’s survey found that consumers spend, on average, $68 on hair clippers, $87 on beard trimmers, $117 on electric shavers, and $135 on hair straighteners. Despite these seemingly high prices, consumers aren’t discouraged according to Canstar Blue.

“What all three of these brands bring to the table is quality and reliability, which is exactly what consumers demand. People don’t mind paying a little extra if they know it’s going to be money well spent and they’re getting an appliances that’s going to last,” said Ms Doyle.

Small grooming appliances are regularly received by Australians as gifts, the Canstar Blue survey found. 36% of beard trimmer owners were given the device as a gift, with 32% of electric shavers, 31% of hair straighteners and 27% of hair clippers also received as gifts.
