Panasonic Introduces Pocketable 15x Zoom Digital Compact Camera
Panasonic is expanding its travel camera range with the introduction of the LUMIX TZ300, a compact model aimed at users who want strong image performance without carrying bulky gear.
The new camera continues the brand’s Travel Zoom line, focusing on portability while still offering a relatively advanced feature set. It weighs about 337 grams with a battery and memory card installed, and its small footprint means it can easily fit into a pocket or small bag.
At the centre of the TZ300 is a 1.0-type BSI CMOS sensor with 20.1 megapixels, paired with a LEICA-branded lens that delivers a 15x optical zoom. The lens covers a 24 to 360mm focal range, giving users flexibility to shoot everything from wide landscapes to distant subjects without changing lenses. Panasonic is positioning the camera as a versatile option for travellers, capable of handling a mix of daylight, low-light and fast-moving scenes.
Close-up photography is also a focus, with macro capabilities allowing users to shoot subjects as near as 3cm. This makes it suitable for capturing smaller details such as food, textures or objects, which often appeal to travel and lifestyle content creators.
Video performance is another key part of the package. The TZ300 supports 4K recording at 3840 x 2160, as well as high-speed Full HD capture at 120 frames per second for slow-motion footage. There is also a 4K Photo mode that records bursts at 30 frames per second, letting users pull still images from video sequences.

To help maintain image clarity, Panasonic has included its POWER O.I.S. stabilisation system to reduce blur during handheld shooting, particularly at longer zoom ranges or in low-light conditions. For video, 5-axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ is designed to smooth out movement when filming on the go.
The camera also leans into creative flexibility, offering 22 built-in filter effects that allow users to adjust the look of their photos directly on the device. A built-in flash is included for low-light situations such as indoor scenes or night shooting.
Connectivity has been updated to match modern expectations. The TZ300 supports Bluetooth pairing and Wi-Fi transfers through Panasonic’s mobile app, making it easier to move images to a smartphone. Charging is handled via USB Type-C, which means the camera can be powered using wall adapters, computers or portable power banks.
Panasonic has set the recommended retail price at $1,599, with availability expected from May 2026 through selected retailers.
The launch reflects ongoing demand for compact cameras that offer more control and image quality than smartphones, particularly among travellers and content creators who want a lightweight but capable shooting option.
