Panasonic Announces Ultra-Wide And Ultra Compact Camera Lens

Panasonic have expanded their range of LUMIX G Series lens’ with the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 9mm F1.7 (H-X09), a large-aperture ultra-wide fixed focal length lens designed for videographers and photographers.

“We are pleased to further build on the broad range of Micro Four Thirds lenses available, supporting creators by developing unique lenses to fill the gaps in their kit,” said Panasonic’s Product Marketing Manager for imaging, Aaron Waters.

“This wide angle, large aperture prime lens has an affordable price point, and we expect it to be a popular choice for vlogging, landscapes, macro and astrophotography.”

Being affordable in context, Panasonic are likely looking to bridge the gap between casual and professional photography, providing a high-quality product that suits the needs of a wide range of skill levels.

With its tiny 130-gram weight and rugged dust and splash resistant design, the LEICA H-X09 is designed to take on the world, and can be used anywhere, even in environments up to -10 degrees Celsius.

Its focusing distance sits at just 0.095m, which combined with its 0.25x magnification ratio, makes it perfect for macro shooting.

It’s inclusion in the LUMIX range means its compatible with accessories such as the LUMIX G sensor drive at 240fps. Video quality is further bolstered by its ability to suppress focus breathing during recording.

The LEICA H-X09 is available from July 2022 for $849 RRP at leading Aussie photographic specialist retailers.
