Oz Smartphone Use Up 12%, Trumps PC & Tablets

Nielsen’s latest research reveals Aussies are using smartphones to access the internet significantly more than PCs or tablets. Local smartphone use soared 12% year-on-year, whilst desktop usage dived 19%.

In February 2018, Australians aged 18+ spent an average of 51 hours and 10 minutes interacting with online content via smartphones.

By contrast, the demographic used desktops for 24 hours and 33 minutes.

Tablet usage averaged 32 hours and 43 minutes, a notable 10% year-on-year increase.

It’s important to note, Nielsen’s results reflect interaction with online content, rather than e-commerce activity.
