Oppo ‘Is A Girls Phone’ & That’s Official, As Company Gets Set To Launch New 5G model

Oppo is a girls phone and that’s official according to senior executives of the Chinese Company.

Chung Hsiang-wei, chief commercial officer of Realme a Company that is 100% owned by the same Company that owns Oppo said earlier this week “In terms of marketing strategy, Oppo and Realme are not playing complementary roles to each other in the market.

In what appears to be an emerging battle between the two Companies for market share executives at the two Companies appear to be fighting each other over brand positioning. Vivo, Oppo and Realme are owned by BBK Electronics and in India Oppo secured the rights to the sponsorship of the Indian cricket team. They later discovered that they had “significantly” over paid after it was revealed that the other bidder was Vivo a Company owned by BBK Electronics.

Recently Oppo pulled out of sponsoring the highly popular Indian team claiming the deal “Was too expensive”.

Chung Hsiang-wei said that “60% of Oppo’s users are female and 60% of Realme’s users are male”.

He also revealed that Oppo is desperately trying to migrate their brand to the premium segment, while Realme is trending toward more technology- and fashion-centric models, Hung said.

He also said that Realme is set to enter the wearable and true wireless stereo (TWS) headset markets and that they will have a 5G smartphone available next year most probably in the second quarter of 2020 in some markets at “reasonable prices”.

Realme management have also revealed that Oppo will launch a Reno 3 series device in December with company’s all new ColorOS 7 UI. The device is set to be launched in the first quarter of 2020 in Australia.

It will have a slightly curved display with management set to claim that it is the slimmest dual-mode 5G enabled smartphone in the market.

The device will be only 7.7mm.

 

The 9.5mm thick predecessor Reno2 currently being sold by JB Hi Fi has a notch-less display and it featured a shark-fin shaped pop-up camera module that housed a selfie camera and an LED flash.

Oppo management are claiming that they have “dramatically” reduced the thickness of the Reno3 Pro 5G.

The front of the device features a punch-hole display design, and a thin-shaped power button can be seen on the right edge of the device.

The device will also have 6.5-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2400 pixels full HD+ resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate, one source in China said that the device could even go to 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the bonnet will be a Snapdragon 735 5G SoC processor with up to 8 GB of RAM and storage editions like 128 GB and 256 GB it will also have a 4,500mAh battery coupled with VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology.
