Nintendo states the NES Classic Mini will release on June 29th, whilst the SNES will return to stores by the end of the year.

For many consumers, the adored Nintendo 64 Mini remains a highly anticipated retro favourite.

As previously reported, Nintendo has confirmed it’s not launching ‘Virtual Console’ for the Switch.

Coupled with its recent announcement, the news suggests Nintendo hasĀ several strategies – rather than one streamlined approach – to release retro games.

Speaking toĀ Kotaku US,Ā a Nintendo spokesperson affirmed:

ā€œThere are currently no plans to bring classic games together under the Virtual Console banner as has been done on other Nintendo systems”

ā€œThere are a variety of ways in which classic games from Nintendo and other publishers are made available on Nintendo Switch, such as through Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo eShop or as packaged collections”.
