New Samsung S7 Smartphone Revealed

At CES 2016 Samsung said that their mission this year was to make their existing products even better now images of the new Galaxy S7 have leaked and on the surface there appears to be little change, but under the bonnet it’s a whole new smartphone.

Due to be released on February 21 the new Samsung smartphone has some neat new innovations.
The Galaxy S7 has a camera which is fully flush to the body for the first time in generations. This is because Samsung has dropped the megapixel rating from 16MP to 12MP but fitted a lighting fast f/1.7 aperture that has the potential to deliver brilliant high speed and low light photography.

While the Galaxy S7 looks almost identical to the Galaxy S6, a closer look reveals that the curvature is more rounded and the top and bottom bezels are fractionally thinner.

The move is definitely a gamble but tipped to work as Apple has been adopting the same strategy with past model launches.

Another big plus is that images of the side of the Galaxy S7 reveals an expanded sim card tray which provides the space to house a microSD card, the new S7 is IP67 water resistance, which is ideal for Australian users who often take their smartphone top a pool or beach.

It also has a substantially larger battery (up almost 20% from 2550mAh to 3000mAh) as Samsung looks to return the Galaxy S line’s reputation of class leading battery life that was lost with the Galaxy S6.

Unlike last year, the Galaxy S7 won’t be joined by a matching 5.1-inch Edge and then a larger 5.7-inch Edge Plus.
Instead Samsung is releasing just two phones with the 5.1-inch S7 joined by a spit-the-difference 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge.

The new smartphones are tipped to go on sale in Australia in March 2016.

Samsung is also tipped to use the their S7 launch event to reveal an expanded Gear VR platform, which suggests that either the new S7 line will work with the existing consumer headsets or we may get an updated Gear VR headset.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event will take place at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Sunday, February 21 and will be available for live streaming on the company’s Samsung Mobile YouTube channel.
